Indigo Dyeing and Dumpling Workshop

During this workshop, you’ll enjoy hand-wrapping mandu with Sarah and creating your own indigo dyed napkin with artist Daisy McClellan.

Join us at Blum on Wednesday Sept 18th from 6-8p for a special indigo and dumps class. In this collaborative class Sarah will be teaming up with local artist Daisy McClellan for the ultimate night out. You’ll enjoy hand-wrapping mandu as well as creating your own custom indigo napkin.

Once you arrive at Blum, you’ll settle in and grab a beverage from their adorable bar. We’ll have yummy snacks on hand while we get to know each other. You’ll start with learning a few shibori patterns to bind your cotton napkin with Daisy while Sarah prepares a few side dishes for your dinner. You’ll flow into hand-wrapping mandu with Sarah while Daisy puts your napkins into the indigo vat. See the napkins transform to a beautiful blue for the big reveal as your hand-wrapped mandu are steamed and pan-fried. While your napkins dry, you’ll start plating your sides and grab piping hot dumplings as they become ready to eat.

Drinks are NOT included in your ticket price but the coffee and wine/beer bar will be open for you! You will go home with a pair of stainless steel chopsticks, your custom indigo napkin, and recipes will be emailed to you after the class. We hope you’ll remember this night fondly when you recreate our recipes in your kitchen while utilizing your new reusable and eco-friendly goodies.
