Cannonborough Elliottborough Insider’s Tour

Insider’s Tours take guests inside some of Charleston’s finest buildings, seldom open to the public. These tours are guided by noted professionals such as architects, historians, and preservation experts with in-depth interpretation focused on Charleston’s unique architectural styles, layered history, preservation ethic, and interior design. Each tour includes a unique set of 3 – 4 properties and lasts approximately 2.5 hours, with complimentary refreshments included.

Cannonborough and Elliottborough, once separate 19th-century mill villages, evolved into vibrant mixed-use neighborhoods that showcase Charleston’s diverse community alongside residential and commercial growth. Known for their eclectic architecture, including historic Freedmans’ cottages, Victorian homes, and early 20th-century storefronts, these areas reflect the city’s expansion beyond its colonial core and its rich cultural diversity. Join us as we discuss this neighborhood’s history from its earliest foundations to its recent revitalization, and be inspired by the many exceptional, award-winning preservation projects throughout Cannonborough Elliottborough. This tour will be led by Preservation Society staff members as well as local professionals who have personally worked on the featured projects.
