That all depends on what your goals are for your vacation.

Want to visit the historical sites in Charleston and do a lot of touring? Then we’d recommend staying the Historic District of downtown Charleston. Use the filters above to sort places that 

Want a beach vacation? Stay at the Isle of Palms, Folly Beach or on Kiawah Island.

Looking for budget friendly places to stay? Check out areas that are outside of the Charleston Historic District such as Mount Pleasant or West Ashley. For the most savings, stay in either North Charleston or Summerville.

Three to four days is considered enough to see many of the sites. You could literally spend a week or two if you really want to get an in-depth view of Charleston however.

We recommend staying in the Historic District at a property that is walkable to see the sites. You can sort Charleston hotels that are walkable in the sort and filter options above. Most people prefer to stay in the City Market area, King Street or French Quarter areas of town.

Absolutely, however that all depends on where you’re staying. If you don’t have a car, we recommend staying in the Historic District (use filters above to sort options). Most people get around the Historic District by using the free DASH Trolley that goes around the city.

Yes. Walking the Historic District in downtown Charleston is a must-do if you’re able. There are many restaurants, for shopping most people go to the City Market or King Street area.
