Located 12 miles from downtown Charleston and accessible from James Island. Folly Beach is known as “The Edge of America” where the attituide of the people is relax….it’s Folly! This fun beach town is known for its beautiful beaches, its large fishing pier, an area near the northern tip of the island called “The Washout” where the waves are bigger and surfers hang out and the Morris Island Lighthouse can be seen from the extreme northern tip of the island. This is the island that has the most amount of restaurants, bars, shops and hotels. Public restrooms and parking are ample. Be sure to arrive early (before 10 am) on the weekends in the summer months or you’ll be sitting in traffic. Alcohol is not permitted on Folly Beach.
