Birding Walk with Audubon South Carolina at the Dill Sanctuary

The Charleston Museum’s Dill Sanctuary is a 580 acre wildlife preserve located along the Stono River that is home to a wide array of birdlife.  A six acre wildlife pond with three nesting islands attracts numerous wading birds, including threatened wood storks.  Maintained fields, surrounded by woodland, provide habitat for songbirds, wild turkeys and raptors.  Join guides from Audubon South Carolina for a guided tour of the Dill Sanctuary.  Learn more about the birdlife that call the Dill Sanctuary home or that are passing through during migration.

Suggested materials: binoculars, birding guide book/app, water, bug spray, hat and sunscreen. Please note, this is an “off-road” location with unprepared terrain. Closed toed shoes are required and walking shoes/boots are strongly recommended.

*The Dill Sanctuary is not open for daily visitation. The Museum offers programs throughout the year to provide public access to this protected property. The Dill Sanctuary is a wildlife preserve and pets are not permitted on the property.

Reservations required. Tours with insufficient enrollment may be canceled. Participants will be notified in advance and full refunds or the opportunity to transfer to another program will be offered. Participant cancellations must be requested 48 hours in advance for a refund minus $10 administration fee.  Full registration fee may be transferred to a future tour or other adult program.  Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will result in a forfeiture of tour fee.
